“...We always felt that these vocal pieces were precious in a sort of fragile way and so would be sure to get up for a turn or two around the dance floor. It was an impression that turned out to be sadly appropriate. This gentleman, a retired science teacher, who had understood the art and relevance of a perhaps uncharacteristically poetic reflection, had stepped forward with a personal courage to lend his voice where the silence was simply unacceptable.
